A lot has happend since my last posting in July. Mainly, I got married and have some new portraits I've been working on.

Huge thank you to my now husband for all his support and love and also to both of our families, for traveling out to Washington to share our special day with us.

Now that the wedding has happened, I'll be spending more time in my studio painting pooches and working on getting my art on display in the Seattle and surrounding communities.

Stephanie, originally from Massachusetts, lives in Seattle where she paints. She is also a proud owner of three retired racing greyhounds. (From left to right, Stephanie, Graziella, Timber & Rocky)

Stephanie has always enjoyed drawing and painting. She was surrounded by art her entire life, looking at her grandparents art, her parents art and sculptures and she took art classes during her educational career.

Stephanie has always loved dogs. When her family was in a position to own dogs, they adopted their first family dog, a Chihuahua named Minnie. As Stephanie got older she longed for a bigger dog to play with and take with her for walks in the woods. That led her family to adopt a Jack Russell Terrier. As the years went by her family adopted more canine companions though her mother maintained a “small dog only” policy. In high school she met a greyhound for the first time. Captivated and intrigued, Stephanie proceeded to learn more about adopting racing greyhounds and their plight. Her passion exploded and as soon as she was on her own, she adopted her first greyhound Timber, in 2002. True to the catch phrase, “Greyhounds are like potato chips, you can’t have just one” she was charmed by Timber’s loving and loyal personality and adopted a second for Timber to have a companion. This experience sparked her interest in fostering greyhounds. A few foster dogs later in 2004, Rocky joined the pack. A few more foster dogs later, in 2006, Graziella joined the pack.

In 2007 Stephanie and her pack ventured west stopping in Salt Lake City for a year where she combined her two loves, painting and greyhounds. This month Stephanie has been in Seattle for a year. She has enjoyed taking her three dogs on weekend trips all over the Pacific Northwest. Between camping trips, hikes in Discovery Park, long strolls throughout her neighborhood, brewing beer and attending Seattle Sounders matches, Stephanie photographs and paints dogs’ portraits. The current collection featured this month, here at the K.I.S.S. Café, are a compilation of rescue dogs’ portraits. Stephanie feels strongly about dog rescue and encourages people to adopt their furry best friends. Because of this philosophy, Stephanie will be donating 20% of all art sales from this collection to the dog rescue of the clients’ choice.
